Updating the R1Soft Agent (Debian / Ubuntu, CentOS & Windows)

Please follow these steps to update the R1Soft backup agent on your Debian / Ubuntu server (scroll down for CentOS and Windows instructions)

    • For Debian and Ubuntu Linux-based servers, you may use the following command to check the current version of the R1Soft agent installed on your server, before and after the update:
      r1soft-setup -v

      Install R1Soft v5 agent:

      1. Start by adding the R1Soft ‘repo’ to the server:
        echo "deb http://repo.r1soft.com/apt/ stable main" >> /etc/apt/sources.list
        wget http://repo.r1soft.com/r1soft.asc
        apt-key add r1soft.asc
      2. Proceed with the installation:
        apt-get install r1soft-cdp-enterprise-agent
      3. Install the kernel module:
        r1soft-setup --get-module
      4. Restart the agent to finish:
        /etc/init.d/cdp-agent restart


    • CentOS
      1. Add the R1Soft ‘repo’ to the server
        echo "[r1soft]
        name=R1Soft Repository Server
      2. Install the agent
        yum -y install serverbackup-enterprise-agent
      3. Install the header kernels:
        yum install kernel-devel
      4. Install the kernel module:
        r1soft-setup --get-module
      5. Restart the agent:
        /etc/init.d/cdp-agent restart


    • Windows
      1. Verify the currently supported compatible versions: http://wiki.r1soft.com/display/ServerBackup/System+Requirements+-+Backup+Agent+for+Windows
      2. Download the agent and unzip the archive


      3. Launch the executable file.
      4. run

      5. Verify the information and click ‘Install’.
      6. install

      7. Click ‘Next’ for the following screens and then click ‘Yes’ to reboot your machine.
